Several News Outlets Announce They Will Not Sign Pentagon’s New Press Policy

News Outlets Refuse to Sign Pentagon's Press Policy

Multiple news outlets, including The Washington Post, The New York Times, and CNN, have announced that they will not sign the Pentagon's new press policy.

The proposed restrictions undercut First Amendment protections by placing unnecessary constraints on gathering and publishing information.

According to the policy, media outlets and reporters can only obtain information that the Pentagon explicitly authorizes. The outlets that have refused to sign the policy include The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Associated Press, CNN, Newsmax, and The Washington Times.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth responded to the decision with a hand-waving emoji on X.

Author's summary: News outlets reject Pentagon's restrictive press policy.
