A former two-year starter for the Hutchinson Blue Dragons made the most of his first extended playing time at the Division 1 level, helping lead Coastal Carolina to a conference victory.
Quarterback Samari Collier, a former three-star recruit from DeSoto, Texas, began his career as a redshirt at Illinois. He played two seasons at Hutch, accounting for over 3,500 yards and 49 touchdowns, leading the Blue Dragons to the 2024 NJCAA National Championship.
Collier transferred to Coastal Carolina to continue his football career, and received his first extended action at quarterback in their most recent game against Louisiana-Monroe. He fired a touchdown pass with 12 seconds remaining in the first half for his first collegiate score.
In the second half, Collier showcased his mobility, running in a 39-yard touchdown to extend the Coastal Carolina lead. He finished the game with over 100 total yards and two touchdowns, in a 23-8 win for Coastal Carolina.
