The Writers Guild of America East urged its members not to immediately respond to a memo requested by editor-in-chief Bari Weiss.
The union, which represents a portion of CBS News staffers, advised its members to wait for more information on the purpose of the memo, indicating early tension between Weiss and her staff.
“Please be blunt — it will help me greatly,”
Weiss had asked staffers to submit a memo by Tuesday outlining their work hours and accomplishments, seeking their views on what is working and what needs improvement.
This development comes after David Ellison’s Paramount completed its $150 million acquisition of The Free Press, Weiss’ “anti-woke” news operation, with Weiss taking the reins at CBS News on Monday.
