Mia Griffin is making significant strides in China, narrowly missing her first World Tour victory and poised for a notable General Classification (GC) result.
After claiming 3rd place yesterday, Irish champion Mia Griffin (Roland Le Dévoluy) came close to securing her first World Tour career win at the Tour of Chongming Island in China. She finished strong in the sprint into Chongming, passing former world champion Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) but ultimately fell short of surpassing Sofie van Rooijen (UAE Team ADQ).
This 2nd place finish marks Griffin's third World Tour podium of her career, highlighting her continued development this season. With one stage remaining, Griffin has a final opportunity to achieve a major win. She has already secured two wins this season, including a stage victory at the Tour El Salvador (2.1) in April and the road race at the National Road Championships in Co Meath in June.
