Men with HIV and severe sleep-disordered breathing experience the greatest sleep disruption, with lower efficiency, more light sleep, and unstable sleep stages.
Researchers examined the relationship between HIV status, sleep stages, and sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in a population-based cohort study within the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study (MACS).
These study results were published in Sleep.
The analysis found that those with and without HIV were mostly White (56.4% and 77.1%, respectively).
Author's summary: Severe sleep-disordered breathing affects sleep in men with HIV.
