Michael Wainwright to Succeed Martin St Quinton as Chair of Cheltenham Racecourse

The Jockey Club has announced that Michael Wainwright will succeed Martin St Quinton as Chair at Cheltenham Racecourse from May 2026, after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

Michael Wainwright, a lifelong Jump racing fan, has been on Cheltenham Racecourse’s committee since 2019. He co-owns several horses, including Ga Law, winner of the 2022 Paddy Power Chase.

As a qualified Chartered Accountant, Michael joined his family business, Boodles, in 1984, and has been Managing Director for many years, stepping away from day-to-day operations in 2024 to become Executive Chairman.

Michael Wainwright will bring his experience and passion to the role of Chair at Cheltenham Racecourse.
