According to an October 2025 report, workplace experts are championing the well-being of "the sandwich generation," which refers to workers caring for both children and parents.
- Only 30% of employers offer family caregiver leave, typically less than three weeks of pay, as per the Leave Management Report from Aon company NFP.
- Workers are increasingly using their PTO for caregiving demands, researchers from NFP noted.
"The constant pull between work, childcare and eldercare can be overwhelming for the sandwich generation, especially women," - Maria Trapenasso, head of Human Capital Solutions at NFP.
HR leaders can offer flexibility and special paid leave to support these workers, experts said.
