In the 8th annual "Battle in the Backyard" at Saint Clair Veterans Memorial Stadium, Minersville quarterback Dante Carr connected with receiver Paiten LaPoint for three touchdowns in the first half.
The Battlin' Miners defeated Nativity 34-0, with Justin Cutler having two interceptions on defense. The game started with Carr hitting LaPoint for a 21-yard touchdown, making the score 7-0 in favor of the Miners.
Carr and LaPoint connected again for a 68-yard touchdown, increasing the lead to 14 points. Cutler picked off his first pass of the season, thrown by Colt Mason of the Green Wave, in the second quarter.
