Major Japanese convenience store operators, such as Lawson Inc. and FamilyMart, posted sales growth in the March-August period.

According to their recent earnings reports, Lawson and FamilyMart attracted customers through various campaigns, including increasing the volume of their private label products, as consumers are being thrifty amid rising prices.

Lawson's first-half sales and profits hit record highs, partly due to the adoption of artificial intelligence for product ordering.

However, FamilyMart's net profit dropped about 30 percent due to the absence of profit from streamlining its Chinese operations.
