A drop in thermometer readings has resulted in record lows in several Vancouver Island towns.
Port Hardy, Port Alberni, Campbell River, and Qualicum Beach are among the 23 communities in B.C. that experienced record low temperatures. Qualicum Beach set a new record of -1 C on Oct. 14, according to Environment Canada, surpassing the previous record of -0.5 C set in 1992.
In contrast, Fort Nelson experienced a new warm temperature of 19.4 C, beating the old mark of 19 C set in 1937.
