Coastal Federation Publishes Guide for Docks and Piers Building Code

The North Carolina Coastal Federation has compiled a comprehensive guide to help local governments and coastal property owners understand new building codes for docks and piers.

The 2025 hurricane season marks the first since the state reinstated standards for residential docks and piers. According to Coastal Advocate Kerri Allen, these new standards can help reduce harmful marine debris, as poorly constructed docks and piers are often the source of post-storm debris.
