Ground Cinnamon Recall Expands to 16 Brands, FDA Reports

A list of impacted products has been released due to elevated lead levels in certain brands of cinnamon.

The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) initially warned consumers about contaminated cinnamon, and more brands have been added to the list. The FDA issued a public health alert for HAETAE and Roshni brand ground cinnamon, distributed by Haitai Inc. (DBA Roshni Foods), due to elevated lead levels.

These brands join Durra and Wise Wife, which were announced earlier in the month. Prior to this, 12 other brands of ground cinnamon were found to have elevated lead levels, with the first notice on July 30, 2024.

A recall of cinnamon applesauce pouches in 2023 led to targeted testing of ground cinnamon products for lead and chromium. This recall update includes products sold at various retailers across the U.S.
