The unfairly canceled 1987 sci-fi show Space Cops returns in 2026 for a new 6 episode mini-series for nostalgic fans.
In 1987, a writer behind both Doctor Who and fellow classic sci-fi Blake’s 7 created his own sci-fi show, and while it lasted only 9 episodes, it’s gone on to achieve true cult status.
The ’80s were an uneven time for sci-fi fans: even the formerly huge success of Doctor Who saw one hiatus and ultimate cancelation in 1989.
Developed by Chris Boucher, the 1987 series was set in 2027 and ran on Doctor Who‘s network, the BBC for just one season.
Originally intended to run for 10 episodes, the intended 9th (“Death on Mars”) was lost to development issues, and the plug was pulled rather unceremoniously.
