Dutch Teen Jaïra Joy Wins Street Dance World Championship
Jaïra Joy, an 18-year-old from Maastricht, has become the world champion in street dance, as reported by De Limburger.
She won the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, performing in front of 10,000 spectators. Joy is the first female Dutch dancer to claim the title.
This year's competition was notable for being the first time all 16 finalists were women. In the final, Joy competed against reigning world champion Waackxxxy, also known as Si Yeon, from South Korea.
"I feel truly insane that I am world champion and that I got to represent our small country on this huge stage,"
Joy said after her victory. She also expressed surprise that the Netherlands could win against countries like the USA, Japan, and Korea, which are known for their talented dancers.
