According to Ukrainian Naval Forces intelligence, a Russian Su-30SM fighter jet was shot down by its own air defenses while attempting to repel a Ukrainian drone strike in occupied Crimea.
The incident was confirmed by radio intercepts, which indicated that both engines of the Su-30SM caught fire, forcing the crew to eject.
The russian aircraft was on a mission in northwestern temporarily occupied Crimea. It apparently crashed for unknown reasons. It is likely that the enemy shot down their own multirole fighter while countering a UAV strike with air defense systems.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Naval Forces also confirmed the incident.
