Mata Debuts as Victory Teammate Shines in Auckland Draw
Melbourne Victory fought out a scoreless draw with Auckland FC in their season opener, with Juan Mata making his highly anticipated club debut.
Mata, who joined from Western Sydney, came on in the 68th minute at AAMI Park, logging the most minutes he has played in an individual A-League Men game since February.
Fellow recruit Denis Genreau stole the show, excelling as an attacking playmaker for the Victory and later shifting to defensive midfield when Mata was introduced.

said coach Arthur Diles, praising Genreau's performance.
