RTI Act Turns 20
The Gujarat Congress stated that the Right to Information Act, enacted during Manmohan Singh's government, has been weakened since the BJP came to power in 2014.
This weakening has affected transparency and the country's democratic fabric, according to Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda.
The legislation's main objective was to empower citizens by giving them access to information available with public authorities.
The Right to Information Act was fully implemented on October 12, 2005.
