GIRLS GOLF: Dakota’s Monteith keeps rising charts with a bullet

Girls Golf: Dakota's Monteith on the Rise

Marissa Monteith, a junior at Macomb Dakota, has made a name for herself in girls golf.

Her journey began in eighth grade when her parents gave her an ultimatum: if she was going to give up softball, she would still have to play a school sport.

"My grandpa lives on a golf course and I've played golf for fun growing up. I guess I was pretty good at it, but never really took it seriously,"

recalled Monteith. She never took golf seriously until high school, where she tried out for the golf team despite the coach not knowing her at first.

"My parents said there was no way I would just sit around after school and not do anything,"

she added. Monteith's determination and natural talent have propelled her to success in the sport.
