Trans Americas Fiber System (TAFS) has selected Ciena's optical transport systems to deploy in its new subsea network.
- Ciena's GeoMesh Extreme and 6500 Reconfigurable Line System will be used in the TAM-1 subsea cable system.
- The 7,200km submarine network will connect Central America and the Caribbean directly to the US.
- Landing points include Florida, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Panama.
Additionally, Darktrace has suggested that the Salt Typhoon hacking group has breached a European telco.
Meanwhile, Open RAN technology may soon enable remote medical procedures, including dentistry.
