Holiday Tours Canceled Due to Budget Impasse
Holiday tours of the mansion at Hartwood Acres have been canceled due to the ongoing Pennsylvania budget impasse, according to Allegheny County spokeswoman Abigail Gardner.
The cancellation is a result of a spending freeze caused by a $100 million shortfall, which is a direct consequence of the state operating without a budget since June 30.
“It has real impacts,”
Gardner stated, highlighting the effects of the hiring and spending freezes announced in September. The county has requested departments to reduce discretionary spending, and further cuts are expected.
