Embracing Trust: The Wikipedia Story
Википедия founder Jimmy Wales notes that the success of Wikipedia showcases the good that comes from trust between strangers.
"I assumed we were going to have to lock things down or something like that. But actually, we found out trusting people does work… Trusting in human decency and the willingness of people to volunteer to do something that's useful really did pay off,"
he tells RNZ's Saturday Morning. Wales' new book, The Seven Rules of Trust, emphasizes authenticity, empathy, and logic. He also highlights that taking care of others is key to building resilience.
Another notable example is the Internet Movie Database, which wouldn't exist without 1980s video technology, according to its founder Col Needham.
