A car crash on Saturday morning caused heavy damage to transformers, leading to a power outage that affected thousands of residents in Burlington and Sedro-Woolley.
According to Puget Sound Energy, more than 5,400 customers in Sedro-Woolley and Burlington lost power earlier in the day, with over 1,000 customers in Sedro-Woolley still without power as of 1 p.m.
The Sedro-Woolley police reported that a motor vehicle crash around 7 a.m. at Wicker Road and Fruitdale Road likely led to the large power outage.
The outage also affected traffic lights, with some intersections having battery-powered lights and others not.
