Newsom Vs. Trump 2028: California Governor Considers White House Bid
California Governor Gavin Newsom has been hinting at a presidential run for months, and has now made his intentions slightly more official.
“Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise,”
Newsom told CBS Sunday Morning's Robert Costa, when asked if he was giving "serious thought" to a White House bid. He added,
“I’d just be lying, and I’m not — I can’t do that,”and stated that
“Fate will determine that,”regarding whether 2028 would be his shot at the presidency.
Newsom has been testing the waters in Red States and taking swings at Donald Trump, but has said he won't make a decision about 2028 until after the 2026 midterms.
