Last weekend, a Wall Street Journal article detailed how aging boomers are creating their own housing destinies. Limited by affordability, some boomers in their 60s and 70s are pooling resources to create their own senior housing.

This concept, known as senior cohousing, is not new. It has been considered by older Americans for decades, as depicted in the 1980s TV show "The Golden Girls," where older women lived together under one roof.

Boomers may build those models themselves.
