Call for New Sanctions on Belarus
Lithuania is urging the EU to impose new sanctions on Belarus due to repeated incursions, including those related to "hybrid war", according to Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys.
"We have to expand the Belarusian sanctions regime, including hybrid activities as one of the reasons,"
He suggests that these sanctions should include trade restrictions, tariffs, and investments in air defense. This comes after Lithuania closed its border with Belarus following an incident involving car-sized balloons carrying smuggled cigarettes crossing into its airspace.
