Carilion Exceeds Fundraising Goal for $100M Cancer Center

Carilion Clinic has surpassed its fundraising goal of $100M for its Roanoke cancer center, raising over $105M.

The health system has now launched a new $50M proton therapy campaign. Former Advance Auto Parts CEO Nicholas Taubman and his wife, Jenny, have contributed $42.5 million towards the Carilion Taubman Cancer Center.

"The consultant did what consultants do … and they came back to us and they said, essentially, ‘Good luck with that. The most we think you could possibly do is $50 million,"

said Nancy Howell Agee, the Roanoke-based health system’s CEO emeritus.
