Georgia Lawmaker Steps Down

A state representative is stepping down, creating another vacancy in the General Assembly. Marcus Wiedower, a Republican from Watkinsville, announced his resignation after six years in the House.

Wiedower cited the rapid growth of his company as the reason for his resignation. The company, Hillpointe, a real estate development and investment management firm, will require more travel, taking him away from the Capitol during the legislative session.

While I’m stepping away from elected office, I look forward to remaining actively involved in our community and continuing to help tackle Georgia’s most pressing challenges, especially attainable housing through my work at Hillpointe.

With Wiedower's resignation, the number of vacancies in the House and Senate has increased to four. Author's summary: Lawmaker resigns due to company growth.
