Remains Unearthed in Schenectady Buried at Local Cemetery
The remains of a woman found inside an iron coffin on Westover Place in Schenectady will be buried at Vale Cemetery in Schenectady.
According to a social media post by the cemetery, the iron coffin and remains were delivered to Vale for burial. The cemetery made the announcement on their Facebook page, stating:
This afternoon, the iron coffin and remains discovered on Westover Place earlier this month were delivered to Vale for burial.
Pieces of visible clothing helped determine the remains to be that of a woman who died in the 1800s. However, the name plate was not found, and the cemetery said this means the woman’s identity will likely remain a mystery.
