Childcare Assistance Program Funding Dispute in Rensselaer County
Rensselaer County has announced that it will no longer accept re-certification applications for the state-supported childcare assistance program due to a lack of funding from New York State.
Previously, the New York State Office for Children and Family Services (OCFS) stated that Rensselaer County had not requested the available $558,232 supplemental funding. However, Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin disputed this claim, saying
"The state owes us an apology".
