To honor past sacrifices, Christ Church's Remembrance Day vigil will return to the downtown Chatham cenotaph.
Individuals and groups will participate in the annual event, running in November as a lead-in to the remembrance service. The church's pastor, John Maroney, stated that time slots are one hour each, with participation from church members, the public, and first responders.
“We’re being joined by an organization called the Guardians of Honour,”
he said.
“They will be doing the vigil through the night. They are retired police officers, retired firefighters, EMS. It is a complete vigil, uninterrupted … They did that last year. We are most appreciative.”
The first vigil was held for 150 hours in 2017 in honor of Canada's 150th year as a nation.
