Lewis Hamilton was "really surprised" by an action of Fernando Alonso before his F1 debut.
Hamilton's debut Formula 1 campaign was marked by a tense intra-team battle with Alonso, who had joined McLaren for the 2007 F1 season after winning back-to-back drivers' championships with Renault.
Ron Dennis had signed Alonso for McLaren, but also decided to introduce Hamilton, McLaren's young talent, to Formula 1 that year. Hamilton had been backed by McLaren for much of his junior career and had won the GP2 championship.
The intense rivalry between Hamilton and Alonso ultimately cost them both the title, as Kimi Raikkonen won Ferrari's most recent drivers' championship.
