MS warns of Wales facing “industrialisation by stealth” with proposed wind farms

Warning of "Industrialisation by Stealth" in Wales due to Wind Farms

James Evans MS has warned that Wales faces "industrialisation by stealth" with 70 onshore wind farm proposals across the country.

According to the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales (CPRW), five proposals are planned for Brecon & Radnorshire, including major schemes at Aberedw, Nant Mithil, Bryn Gilwern, Garreg Fawr, and Banc y Celyn, totaling over 100 turbines, each exceeding 200 meters in height.

"15,000 jobs are going to be created as a result of renewable energy. That is not something I'm going to apologise for."

In a discussion with Eluned Morgan MS, the First Minister compared the potential contribution of Powys to net zero targets with South Wales's historic coal mining industry.
