Suicide Prevention Awareness through License Plates
A Virginia mother, Jacqui Herron, and her group of supporters are working to raise awareness about suicide prevention through custom Virginia license plates.
It’s basically just to honor each and every person we have lost to suicide and get people just thinking and talking about the awareness and prevention.
The group, Matthew Matters, was founded by Herron in honor of her son who lost his life to suicide. Their goal is to break down stigma and encourage conversations about mental health.
- The group needs 450 people to apply for the personalized plates to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- After two years, they are about halfway to reaching their goal.
The custom license plates aim to raise awareness throughout the Commonwealth and start conversations about mental health.
