A full-sister to the great Equinox kicked off her career in style, scoring an impressive victory in the 2000-metre 2YO Newcomer event on turf at Tokyo.
Trained by Tetsuya Kimura, who also trained Equinox, the filly, Exceed, was sent off at $1.70. With Christophe Lemaire in the saddle, Exceed entered the home straight in eighth position, before quickening to win by a length and a half in a time of 2:00.2.
She’s well-built for a filly and shows sharp acceleration. Her gestures and sensitivity remind me of her brother when he was young, she’s alert and quick to respond. She’s a very exciting prospect with great potential.
Author summary: Equinox's sister wins debut race impressively.
