Teacher Recalls Shooting Incident
Abigail Zwerner, a former Virginia teacher, testified in court about the traumatic experience of being shot by a 6-year-old student.
"I thought I was dying, I thought I had died,"
she told the jury, recalling the incident at Richneck Elementary in Newport News, Virginia, on January 6, 2023.
Zwerner is suing former Richneck Elementary assistant principal Ebony Parker for $40 million, alleging that Parker ignored warnings about the boy who shot her.
Zwerner's testimony described her severe injuries and her thoughts during the incident:
"I thought I was on my way to heaven or in heaven. But then it all got black."
