Science Council Launches £800m Estate Overhaul Bid
The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is seeking a single contractor to decarbonise and renew its vast science estate through an eight-year deal worth up to £800m.
The estate, which spans around 300,000 sq m of built estate across 128 buildings, includes world-leading research centres such as Harwell, Daresbury, and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
- The contractor will deliver a rolling programme of capital works, including new-build research facilities, infrastructure renewal, and backlog maintenance clearance.
- A separate £18m procurement for a programme management partner will also be launched, with the supplier expected to work collaboratively with the STFC estates team and stakeholders.
