Cold Chain Infrastructure in Agriculture

Cold chain infrastructure is transforming India's agriculture by reducing post-harvest losses, increasing farmer income, and enhancing exports.

Agriculture is a crucial component of India's success, with around 65% of the population engaged in agricultural activities. In FY25, India exported approximately Rs. 3,17,831 crore (US$ 36.97 billion) worth of agricultural produce to over 200 countries.

However, a significant portion of this produce is lost due to lack of proper storage. Cold storage infrastructure helps bridge the gap between production and demand markets, both domestically and internationally, by maintaining the product's efficacy.

Cold chain infrastructure is revolutionising India’s agriculture by reducing post-harvest losses, boosting farmer income, and improving exports.
