UCI Suspends Portuguese Veteran António Carvalho
António Carvalho, a 36-year-old Portuguese cyclist, has been provisionally suspended by the UCI due to unexplained abnormalities in his Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) in 2018, 2023, and 2024.
Carvalho, a three-time Volta a Portugal stage winner, most recently rode for the Continental team Feirense-Beeceler.
- Carvalho's suspension follows similar ABP-related suspensions of Spanish rider Oier Lazkano and Italian rider Giovanni Carboni.
- He rode for several teams, including W52/FC Porto and ABTF Betão-Feirense, before violating the UCI Anti-Doping Rules.
No comment from the rider or his team has been released.
