Mary Sheffield has won the 2025 Detroit mayoral race, defeating Solomon Kinloch Jr.
Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield has been elected to be the first woman mayor of Detroit. She has served in the city since 2013 and made history in 2022 by becoming the youngest person to be elected as council president.

The Associated Press projected her victory just after 9 p.m. on November 4, just a little over an hour after the polls closed.
