Beloved weather presenter Livinia Nixon, whose broadcasting journey began on Hey Hey, It’s Saturday, is turning the page to a new phase in her career. She will continue to appear on Nine’s travel programs Postcards and Getaway.
After two decades as Nine’s long-serving weather presenter, Nixon announced she would step down later this month. Reflecting on the change, she shared that she has been “on air for more of my life than I’ve not” and is now “looking forward to a breather.”
At 50, Nixon revealed her decision was motivated by a desire to spend more time with her family. Her youngest son, Ted, is about to enter high school, joining his older brother, Henry. She emphasized the weight of the decision, acknowledging the privilege of being welcomed into homes across Australia each night.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,”
When she shared the news with her children, Nixon said they responded warmly:
“We’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.”
Among her favorite memories is a live weather report at Healesville Sanctuary, where she found herself with a green tree python draped around her neck. The snake coiled and squeezed, then tried to slither inside her jacket.
“I’d never read the weather as quickly in my life.”
Livinia Nixon leaves her long-time weather role to focus on family while continuing her TV presence through travel shows, celebrating a life shaped by broadcasting and connection.
