Livinia Nixon to Step Down From 9News Melbourne Weather
After more than 20 years as Melbourne’s beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has decided to leave her role on 9News Melbourne to spend more time with her family.
Career Highlights at Nine Network
Livinia joined the Nine Network in 1997 and began presenting the weather for 9News Melbourne in 2004. Over two decades, she became a familiar and trusted face to viewers in the city.
Reason for Departure
Livinia will step away from weather presenting to focus on her two sons, who are now entering their senior years of schooling. Her final weather broadcast will be on Tuesday, 18 November.
Continuing Roles at Nine
Although Livinia is stepping back from weather, she will stay with Nine and continue hosting popular travel programs such as Getaway and Postcards.
Livinia Nixon’s Statement
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.
Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’
I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
