Liberal leader Sussan Ley is facing intense scrutiny as speculation grows that her time as party leader may be limited. Reports from Canberra indicate rising doubts about her control over the party within the next year.
Libertian Senator Sarah Henderson publicly expressed serious concerns about the current direction, stating she “could not support things the way they are” and that Ms Ley was “losing support” inside the party.
“I value every single member of my team including the good Senator that you’ve just mentioned. In order to interrogate her view, you should probably ask her.”
When pressed about whether her “days leading the party were numbered,” Ms Ley avoided direct commentary and instead focused criticism on the Albanese government, particularly regarding the cost of living.
Despite these internal tensions, Ms Ley emphasized her team’s commitment to addressing net zero emissions, acknowledging that the topic deepens divisions between moderates and conservatives within the party.
The Liberal leader is under significant internal pressure as key party figures voice doubts, highlighting deepening divides and uncertainty about the party's future leadership.
