“Difficult Decision”: Livinia Nixon Departs Nine News
After more than two decades with Nine News, Livinia Nixon has announced her departure from her nightly weather presenting duties. She will continue contributing to the network through her roles on Postcards and Getaway.
“After two decades in the 9Newsroom, I’ve made the difficult decision to step back from my current role,” she shared on Instagram. “As you know, the juggle of modern life is unrelenting and I need to spend more time with my boys.”
Nixon expressed appreciation for her audience and her colleagues, reflecting warmly on her time with Nine News.
“Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being in your lounge rooms every night…. I haven’t always got the forecast right, but hey, that’s Melbourne for you!”
“I’m so grateful for so many years surrounded by a wonderful News team and I’m proud to be leaving on a high. I shall be cheering 9News on from the sidelines.”
She also thanked Channel 9 for their understanding as she transitions into a new chapter focused on family.
“I’ll always be grateful to Channel 9 for understanding my situation and for supporting my decision. I’ll remain at 9 filming stories for Getaway and Postcards.”
Her children shared their excitement about the change, as Nixon prepares for her final weather report on November 18.
“As my boys said, ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum’. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
