Manchester United prospect James Overy has been named in Australia's squad for upcoming friendlies against Colombia and Venezuela. Coach Tony Popovic also welcomed back midfielders Jackson Irvine and Riley McGree, both recovering from injuries.
Overy, a 17-year-old full back from Perth, joined Manchester United's academy last year. Though he has yet to make a senior appearance for the Premier League club, he participated in Australia's recent under-20 World Cup squad.
The 26-man roster, announced on Friday, features seven uncapped players as Popovic aims to strengthen the squad ahead of the second-last international window before the 2026 World Cup in North America.
These players are set to compete for their first international caps in matches on November 14 against Venezuela in Houston and November 18 against World Cup-qualified Colombia in New York.
Jackson Irvine, based in Germany, makes his return to the squad after eight months sidelined due to foot surgery and a quadriceps injury.
"The inclusion of young and returning players shows our intent to build a strong squad leading up to the World Cup," said coach Tony Popovic.
The roster balances emerging talent with experienced players as Australia prepares for its path to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
