In an important development for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gérald Caussé has been appointed as the newest apostle, marking a milestone in the church's leadership.
Born in Bordeaux, France, Gérald Caussé is the church's 15th presiding bishop and the third to be born outside the United States. Since October 2015, he has overseen the church’s real estate, financial, investment, and humanitarian operations.
His French heritage adds diversity to the leadership, which includes two other European apostles: Dieter F. Uchtdorf from Germany and Patrick Kearon from Britain.
"I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. He’s always been in the center of my life."
This strong faith in Christ underpins his new role as an apostle.
Caussé has been responsible for managing the church’s extensive financial holdings, an area that has attracted public interest in recent years. He is also recognized for his commitment to environmental stewardship, bringing a fresh perspective to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Gérald Caussé’s appointment as apostle highlights his deep faith and financial expertise, enriching the LDS Church’s leadership with international experience and a focus on stewardship.
