9News Melbourne is preparing to say goodbye to one of its most recognizable faces, as veteran weather presenter Livinia Nixon plans to sign off on November 18 after more than two decades in the role.
Livinia Nixon, 50, first joined the Nine Network in 1997 and began presenting the weather for 9News Melbourne in 2004. On Friday, she announced that she would be stepping back to focus on her family as her sons approach their high school years.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role,” she said. “My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
Nixon reflected on the impact the role has had on her life and career, acknowledging how deeply it shaped her professional journey.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she continued. “When I discussed it with our boys, they said, ‘We’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
Though she is stepping away from her post as the nightly weather presenter, Nixon will remain involved with the Nine Network in other capacities.
After two decades as 9News Melbourne’s trusted weather presenter, Livinia Nixon is leaving her nightly duties to dedicate more time to her family while continuing with the Nine Network.
