9News Favourite Livinia Nixon Announces Exit

After two decades as the weather presenter for 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has decided to step down from her role. She will continue her other commitments with Nine, including her appearances on travel shows.

Career and Announcement

Livinia Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and became the weather presenter for 9News Melbourne in 2004. She announced her final weather broadcast will air on Tuesday, 18 November.

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,” Nixon said.

Reasons for Leaving

Nixon shared that her decision is motivated by family priorities, especially as her two sons enter the senior years of their schooling.

“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”

Future with Nine Network

While stepping away from nightly weather presentations, Livinia will remain active on the network’s travel programs Getaway and Postcards.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she said.

“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will continue my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”

Livinia Nixon concludes her tenure as a beloved weather presenter but remains committed to her growing family and her ongoing television projects.
