SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé, originally from France and former Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was sustained and ordained as a member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday.
Elder Caussé, 62, was ordained by President Dallin H. Oaks along with members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The Quorum is the Church’s second-highest governing body, responsible for overseeing its global administration and serving as special witnesses of Jesus Christ.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said. “And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ.”
Elder Caussé served as a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012 and then in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 until his current calling. Throughout his service, he has been a noted advocate for caring for others and highlighting the importance of youth in the Church.
Elder Gérald Caussé’s appointment to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles marks a continuation of his lifelong dedication to faith, leadership, and service within the global Church community.
