Elder Gérald Caussé Is Called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Elder Gérald Caussé has been appointed as the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His calling took place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, and he was ordained the same day by President Dallin H. Oaks, together with the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said. “He’s always been at the center of my life. I know He is our Savior and Redeemer. It is a wonderful experience to be a witness of Christ. That is the greatest stewardship we can have in this life.”

The Role of the Apostles

Apostles are special witnesses of Jesus Christ throughout the world. They also carry significant administrative duties, guiding the growth and operation of the global Church. The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles functions as the second-highest governing body in the Church organization, working under the direction of the First Presidency, which consists of the Church President and two counselors.

About Elder Gérald Caussé

Age 62 and originally from Bordeaux, France, Elder Caussé has served as the Church’s Presiding Bishop for the past 11 years. He is the third Presiding Bishop born outside the United States and the first whose primary language is not English.
