The White House is set to reveal on Thursday that another nation will establish diplomatic relations with Israel through the Abraham Accords, according to Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy.
"I'm flying back to Washington tonight because we're going to announce, tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords," Witkoff said at the America Business Forum in Miami.
The Abraham Accords were initiated during President Trump's first term, leading several Arab countries to normalize relations with Israel in 2020. These agreements significantly changed the regional dynamics.
The Accords have intensified the isolation of the Palestinians by weakening a traditional Arab consensus that recognition of Israel should be conditional on progress in the peace process.
Palestinians, enduring prolonged Israeli occupation, view the normalization deals as a betrayal by Arab states that had pledged to support Palestinian independence and pressure Israel to withdraw from territories occupied since 1948.
The upcoming announcement signals continued expansion of the Abraham Accords, further shifting Middle East diplomatic relations while exacerbating Palestinian challenges.
